Position Available - Full Time 9-1-1 Communications Operator

Please be advised that the following position is open at the Galloway Police Department.

Communications Operator Duties and Requirements

Answers all incoming calls including 9-1-1, Police, Fire & EMS
Must have good communication skills both oral and written, ability to work well with others, ability to think and act calmly in emergency situations.

Requirements: state mandated (E911) class and (EMD) emergency medical dispatching, as well as CPR certification.
Computer skills required,
Prior experience preferred but not required.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Must be of sound moral character verified by a background check
Must be able to work shift work preferably midnights

Salary during training period, benefits available, PERS pension position.

Position Available - Records Clerk

Please be advised that the following position is open at the Galloway Police Department.

Records Clerk Duties and Responsibilities

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Patrol Bureau Commander, performs responsible and varied clerical work in the Police Records Unit. Performs a variety of complex, highly responsible, and highly technical duties. May exercise supervisory and evaluative authority. Works independently, under broad guidance and direction. Performs other duties as assigned.

Representative Duties

  • Under the direction of the Records Unit Supervisor
  • Data entry of numerous reports, maintenance of physical and computer files
  • Entering various data into departmental computers databases for informational use
  • Preparing case file Discovery packages for court authorities and other authorized personnel as per OPRA
  • Faxing reports to proper agencies
  • Handle incoming phone calls, take messages, or direct calls
  • Handle walk-ins to the Police Department and assist when necessary or direct to the proper department
  • Operate varied types of office machines and equipment
  • Responsible for verification of records for various agencies
  • Other administrative or clerical tasks at the direction of the Records Unit Supervisor
  • Operates within the parameters of Standard Operating Procedures governing the Records Unit and other relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Galloway Township Police Department

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience with police office operations preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
  • Considerable knowledge of modern office methods, practices, and equipment
  • Ability to perform typing and data entry quickly and with minimal errors
  • Ability to comprehend established office routine, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to maintain suitable records and files
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work various shifts as required
  • Ability to deal with the public courteously and tactfully
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and assist when necessary
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, without endangering the health and safety of themselves or others
