Firearms Permits


Initial applications for firearms identification cards, change of address (in or out of town), and handgun permits can be picked up in person at the Galloway Township Police Department or downloaded below. The application packet must be completed with the required information and returned along with any applicable fees to police headquarters along with a copy of your photo New Jersey Driver's License or MVC issued identification card. Next, the applicant will undergo a background investigation and fingerprinting if applicable.


 Important Information About Your Identification

  • The name (including Sr., Jr., III, etc.) and address provided on the identification must exactly match the name and address provided on all the application paperwork.
  • Your identification must show your current address.
  • If you use a PO Box on your identification, it must also show your residential address separated by a hyphen:

  • Please make changes to your Driver's License or MVC issued identification prior to applying.

 


Firearms Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Must complete the Firearms- Initial Application packet (download forms below or pick up at police headquarters)
  • Once your application has been reviewed, and determined to be accurate and complete, the applicant will be instructed to be fingerprinted at IDENTO. Fingerprints will be submitted to the State Bureau of Identification.
  • No money is required when dropping off the application. Fees for fingerprinting must be paid directly to IDENTO.
  • You must complete the Firearms- Purchase Permit, Information Change, Duplicate Application packet (download forms below or pick up at police headquarters).
  • Follow all the instructions in the application packet that you pick up at police headquarters. If you do not follow the link below to complete the process and pay the fee, your application will be denied.

 There are certain fees that apply for Firearms ID Cards and pistol purchase permits. The specific fees are detailed below:

  • $5.00   Firearms Identification Card (New Only - No fee for lost/stolen/duplicate cards)
  • $2.00   Permit to Purchase Pistol (Each)

The fees must be paid by cash and are due when you pick up your items. Your method of payment must be exact CASH ONLY. No change can be given.

WE WILL NOTIFY YOU BY MAIL WHEN YOUR FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION CARD AND/OR PISTOL PURCHASE PERMIT HAS BEEN ISSUED.

Applications can be dropped off in the lobby of police headquarters and placed into the lockbox marked "FIREARMS." Applications MUST be dropped off by the applicant.
