Professional Standards Division (Internal Affairs)

The Professional Standards Division plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and accountability of our organization. With respect to Internal Affairs, they are responsible for receiving and processing internal affairs investigations that involve allegations of criminal conduct or acts of misconduct made against members of the department. The Professional Standards Division ensures that allegations made against members of the Galloway Township Police Department are thoroughly and objectively investigated to their logical conclusion. The Professional Standards Division maintains a comprehensive index of all complaints received against all members and that information is submitted to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office on an annual basis.

The Professional Standards Division is also responsible for the review of In-car and Body-Worn Camera, Drug Testing, Use of Force Review, Pursuit Review, OPRA and Holding Area Management. We uphold the highest standards of professionalism and transparency in every facet of our operations. What does the Professional Standards Division do?

The Professional Standards Division has the responsibility to investigate all allegations of misconduct by members of the department and to review and adjudicate all minor complaints which are handled by supervisors.

In addition, the Professional Standards Division will review all firearms discharges by department personnel that are not related to training, all use of force incidents, all vehicular pursuits, and all collisions involving department vehicles.
