Effective April 1, 2019, the New Jersey State Police launched the new Firearms Application and Registration System (FARS). The Galloway Township Police Department is utilizing this system for all initial firearms identification card applications, replacement of lost or stolen firearms identification cards, and requests for pistol purchase permits.

The Firearms Application & Registration System (FARS) is used to process the following types of applications:

• • Initial Firearms Purchaser Identification Card (Firearms Identification Card)
  • Permit to Purchase a Handgun
  • Change of Address on Firearm Purchaser Identification Card
  • Change of Name on Firearm Purchaser Identification Card
  • Replacement for Firearms Purchaser Identification Card (for lost, stolen or renewal)
  • Register handgun(s) with change of residency to New Jersey / Voluntary Registration
  • Change of Sex on Firearm Purchaser Identification Card

1. Visit: www.njportal.com/NJSP/fars to begin the application process for any of the options listed above. Please read the instructions on this webpage prior to submitting your application.

2. The Galloway Township Police Department ORI # is NJ0011100.

3. (2) References are required. You will need their first name, middle initial, and last name. You will also need their address, phone number, and email address.

4. Initial Firearms ID Card (FID) applicants will be asked to provide a photo. Upload a recent, clear color image of your face taken within the last six (6) months. No Hats, Glasses or Filters.

5. Additionally, Initial FID applicants are required to be fingerprinted. This must be done within 90 days of application submission. Fingerprint instructions will be in the Confirmation email from FARS.

6. Fees: Initial FID card is $50.00, and each Handgun Permit is $25.00. Payment can be made via check or money order made payable to the Galloway Township Police Department. This may be dropped off at any time by putting it in the Firearms Dropbox located in the main lobby of the Police Department. Credit card payments are also available; an email will be sent from mcevoli@gtpd.org with those payment instructions

*All Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards and Permits to Purchase Handguns are now electronic. You will receive access to your Firearms Purchaser Identification card in your approval email. You will receive confirmation of your E-Permits in your approval email.*

The online application process is APPLICANT DRIVEN. Please ensure you have entered the best phone numbers and email address for yourself and your references.

**Once you submit your application to FARS, you WILL NOT be able to make changes!**

Below in the "Important Links" shortcut, is the link for the NJ Concealed Carry Permit.  The cost for a permit to carry is $150.00 payable by credit card, check or money order made out to the Galloway Township Police Department.
